Between Here and There

Public transit is filled with spaces of refuge, as intimate corners are appropriated for private actions and rituals. Corners of subway cars become domestic interiors, though rarely without a voyeur. They are simultaneously anonymous and deeply familiar. Between Here and There contains a collection of illustrations that conflate the intimacy of public and private spaces as a body moves through the city. When interchanged, their ambiguity creates a liminal space between comfort and confrontation.

Between Here and There was commissioned by The Illiterate and The Mute as a part of their installation at the 2017 Tokyo Art Book Fair.
